Wood is one of the most complex materials to process in the manufacture of writing instruments. Due to the extremely thin walls, it requires a great deal of sensitivity and manual work - Each piece of this characteristic natural material is unique and “wants” to be treated individually.

Before one of the precious woods becomes a fountain pen Before it can be processed, it goes through a decades-long drying process. F Frank Pressentin has set up a specially covered outdoor storage facility for this storage process. The valuable planks and beams are stored here for 5 - 10 years before they are taken to the warm studio workshop. There they are processed into smaller beams and stored again for 2 - 5 years.
