Andere sind freie Arbeiten, die der Künstler und gestaltende Handwerker zur Erweiterung seines Werkes erstellt. Die Lust am Ausprobieren unterschiedlicher Material- und Farbkombinationen ist in allen Arbeiten erkennbar.

BIENNALE 2022 FOR APPLIED ART AT THE MUSEUM OF HAMBURG HISTORY
INSPIRATION HISTORY: MERCHANT'S ACCOUNT FROM THE 16TH CENTURY
It is said that Hamburg merchants do not tend to show off their wealth with ostentatious pomp. Honesty, transparency and Hanseatic understatement are considered virtues and ideals.
The appreciation of materials, craftsmanship and tradition. Solidity paired with the need for something beautiful. Solid gold and silver as a functional investment . Luxury that is not excessive and has a purpose.
These points inspired me to create a fountain pen that, due to its materiality and understated form, combines many of these historical approaches.

FOUNTAIN PEN MADE OF MOKUME GANE, FINE SILVER & SHIBUISHI
I created this special piece for the opening of the MK&G Fair 2021, one of the most prestigious fairs for contemporary arts and crafts in Europe.
Mokume Gane is a 300-year-old Japanese forging technique , which combines various precious metals to form a surface. Mokume Gane literally means "Wood structure in metal" , because the pattern of the surface structure resembles a fine wood grain.
The fine ELBWOOD fountain pens made of Mokume Gane are a real rarity, because Frank Pressentin is the only fountain pen manufacturer in the world to produce writing instruments made of solid Mokume Gane in Special alloys such as Shibuishi or Shakudo Thanks to an exclusive collaboration with the only existing manufacturer ( Layered work ), which is able to supply this sensitive material for the high demands of fountain pen production, the patterned writing instruments are made of layered metal unique worldwide . These unique pieces have their price: starting at 8,350.- Euro.
